It makes a lot of sense, why physicians would be trying to have their own CT Scanners, Cardiac PET scanners, and other equipment. Any time a scan needs to be done for a doctor with his own doctor's office, that physician has to schedule a time for the patient to get in to get the scan, have the results send to the office, review the scans, schedule a follow up appointment, and then decide how to continue. This is a lot of steps for what is a simple process of medical scanning. Hence the reason physicians are putting up the money to have PET Scanner Service and other medical imaging options available all under their own roof.
While the imaging machines themselves are very expensive, they do pay off greatly in the long run, as the physician will end up getting revenue for the price of the scans -- which can get pretty pricey themselves. All in all, nuclear medicine services as an in-house option is a great long-term investment for medical practices and centers.
